UBPO appeals for change in Assam, favours BJP-led government

KOKRAJHAR, April 10: After the first phase of Assam assembly election held on April 4, the United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO) said that it had strongly observed that majority of the people wanted to bring a non-Congress government in Dispur  for peace, security and good governce. In a press statement issued by the president of the UBPO, Mihiniswar Basumatary and spokesman Anil Basumatary, it was stated that the people of the State had come out against corruption and injustice done by the Congress and so the voters in Assam were in favour of a BJP-led government.

On the comments of the intellectuals of Assam, the president and spokesman of UBPO said it was unfortute on the part of the intellectuals who spoke against the BJP. They said the view of the intellectuals should not be partial and the remarks of intellectuals like Hiren Gohain reflected a biased attitude.
