UBPO assistant general secretary expelled

HOWRAGHAT, May 30: Rijen Basumatary, assistant general secretary of United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO), has been dropped from primary membership and as assistant general secretary by the central committee of UBPO. This was informed through a press release by Badal Muchahary, secretary, UBPO, Karbi Anglong district unit. According to the press release, Rijen Basumatary was dropped from the primary membership and as AGS, UBPO due to violation of chapter VI, Article No 20 of the constitution of UBPO. Rijen Basumatary is contesting as MAC from the Langhin constituency as Independent for the ensuing Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) election. On the other hand, BPF supported BJP candidate Tarendra Brahma is also contesting from the Bodo domited Langhin constituency.
