UBPO forms district unit in Karbi Anglong

HOWRAGHAT, February 2: The United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO) has formed its district unit committee in Karbi Anglong. The committee was formed at a general meeting held at Langhin Tiniali where the leaders of the Bodo frontal organizations in Karbi Anglong district were present. The committee was formed with Rarendra Brahma and Badal Muchahary as president and general secretary respectively.

While stating the reasons of formation of the UBPO in Karbi Anglong, Badal Muchahary,  UBPO general secretary Karbi Anglong district unit, said that the committee was formed to mount pressure on the Central and State governments to grant a grand autonomous council for the indigenous Bodo tribal people living outside the jurisdiction of BTAD and implementation the of ST(Hills) status accord in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao autonomous districts as per clause 8 of the Bodo Accord, 2003.
