UBPO rubbishes Aditya Khakhlary's claim to be Bodo Kachari council chief

HOWRAGHAT, January 10: The activists of United Boro People's Organization (UBPO), Karbi Anglong district unit, burned the effigy of Aditya Khakhlary, secretary of Tribal Sangha here on Sunday at Langhin Tiniali in protest against his claim to be the chief of the proposed Bodo Kachari Autonomous Council (BKAC) in Assam. The activists burned the effigy of Khakhlary in the heart of the Langhin town and shouted slogans against him.

Expressing resentment over the comment made by the leader of Tribal Sangha, the secretary of UBPO, Karbi Anglong district unit Badal Muchahary said that Aditya Khakhlary had extended no single contribution in the demand of BKAC. He said that the first preference of becoming chief of the BKAC would be given to a senior leader of UBPO.

He further said that UBPO had been fighting with the government for the BKAC for the people living outside the BTAD. On Khakhlary's desire to join the Congress, Muchahary said, "We have no objection or have nothing to say on his desire to join the Congress. Joining any political party is his persol matter but he should stop or dismiss immediately the propaganda of becoming chief of BKAC."

According to statement of the UBPO leader, Tribal Sangha's leader Aditya Khakhlary was going to join Congress and try to mage the Congress high command to attain the post of BKAC. His dream of becoming the chief of BKAC would never become reality, Muchahary said.
