UBPO stresses united struggle for Bodo issues

KOKRAJHAR, November 3: The third annual conference of the United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO), being held at Bathoupuri Bodo High School playground, Gorchuk in Guwahati, entered the second day on Thursday where the organization stressed the need for united struggle for the issues of the Bodos. The UBPO, which operates outside BTC districts, has been struggling for the issues of the Bodos in the region.

 As part of the programme of second day, the president of the organization, Mihiniswar Basumatary hoisted the flag in the morning while the advisor Bipin Goyary paid homage, followed by the release of annual mouthpiece Khousethini Fungkha and souvenir Khousethini Agan by PHE Minister Rihon Daimary. A semir on the topic ‘The importance of united political struggle in building of a great Bodo tiolity’ was iugurated by the president of Ex-BLT Welfare Society, Ja Mohan Mashahary and it was chaired by Toren Boro, former vice-president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS). Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary and ren Chandra Boro delivered lecture on the topic as resource persons. In the semir, the united movement for the issues of the Bodos was given maximum importance.

The first delegate session chaired by the speaker of the UBPO, Rwmwi Basumatary, was iugurated by MLA Chandan Brahma. The vice-president of the organization Ki Ram Swargiyary gave the welcome address. In the evening, the stage shows on Raja Iragdao by the Lwrgi Theatre Group of Kokrajhar attracted viewers.

On the concluding day, the chief of BTC, Hagrama Mohilary will attend as chief guest. The open meeting will be iugurated by State Forest Minister Pramila Rain Brahma while Chief Executive Member of Mising Autonomous Council, Dr.Ronus Pegu will be appointed speaker and general secretary of BSS, Kamala Kanta Mashahary and president of All Bodo Women’s Welfare Federation (ABWWF), Bibha Rain rzary will be distinguished guests.
