Udalguri ABSU calls 16-hour bandh on June 15

UDALGURI, June 13: The Udalguri anchalik committee ABSU has vehemently condemned the incident that occurred on June 10 when Dipankar Deuri was attacked by a mob suspecting him to be a child-lifter and his vehicle was also set on fire in the presence of some police personnel.

The unfortute incident took place near the petrol pump just half km away from Golmagaon Chowk towards Harisinga. On the other hand, in the me of arresting culprits the police have allegedly arrested some innocent people from zareth village near Kapurpora Chowk. During the operation to b the so-called culprits, the ABSU alleged that the police raided the village and also allegedly tortured men and women and damaged some household properties.

The Udalguri anchalik ABSU, in protest against alleged police atrocities on innocent villagers, has called a 16-hour Udalguri town bandh on June 15 from 5 am to 9 pm. The ABSU has also demanded the release of the arrested villagers from zareth village. The ABSU appealed to the people of Udalguri town to maintain peace and harmony during the bandh hours. This was stated in a press communique signed by Swmdwn G. Basumatary, the president of Udalguri Anchalik Committee ABSU.
