Udalguri district indigenous games festival concludes

KOKRAJHAR, March 24: The first Udalguri district indigenous games festival organized by the Bodoland Indigenous Games Association (BIGA), Udalguri district committee in association of Bodofa Sports Academy, Khairabari with a three-day programme held at Abra Fwthar, Amrakho in Udalguri district concluded on Wednesday. The theme of the festival was preservation, revitalization and promotion of indigenous games.

There were competitions on Bodo Khomlaii, Ghila, Dongfang Bukui, Daria-pantha and Tchouk ball for boys and girls, with showcasing of other traditiol games. The prize distribution ceremony was attended among others by the Joint Secretaries of the central committee, BIGA-Prasanta Kr. Brahma and A. Kr. Basumatary and treasurer-J. Brahma. Local dignitaries and leaders of various sports association were also present on the occasion. The guests of the concluding ceremony called upon people to preserve and revitalize the traditiol games and to promote some events that are having feasibility for access to world are.

As part of the programme, the president of Udalguri district committee, BIGA Sujendra Basuamtary (Adangjara) and president of reception committee Sunda Swargiyary hoisted the flags and homage was paid to Chakya Brahma, the founder of BIGA, by the vice-president of the association, Udalguri district committee. Around 200 participants from across Udalguri district and Tamulpur, Goreswar and Medaghat of Baksa district took part in festival.
