Uddipta, Simran, Monisha, Iftikar win titles

GUWAHATI, May 24:  Uddipta Kakati and Simran Ahmed of Guwahati Chess Association clinched the title in under-17 (boys) and under-19 girls category respectively in 40th All Assam Inter District Chess Championship which concluded in Kalyan Ashram Auditorium, Silchar today. The meet was organized by the Cachar District Chess Association on behalf of All Assam Chess Association. Uddipta Kakati remains unbeaten in under-17 (boys) category and scored 5.5 points from 6 rounds. Ronish Singh of Cachar got second position in this category by scoring 4.5 points. S. Monisha Devi of Cachar got first position in under-17 Girls category by scoring 5 points while Twinkle Patgiri of Tinsukia got second position in under-17 girls’ category. Simran Ahmed of Guwahati Chess Association scored 3 points to clinch the title in under-19 girls’ category. Dibyanga Kar of Cachar got second position by scoring 1 point. Meanwhsile Iftikar Alom Mazumdar of Cachar got first position in under-19 Boys category. Rituraj Borgohain of Dibrugarh also scored four points but declared second on the basis of tie-break score.
