Udharbond again the centre of attraction

Silchar, Sept 27: Udharbond Kalibari Road Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee organized Durga puja this year has become again the main attraction of the pandal hoppers. From the invocation of the Goddess on Maha Panchami, devotees and visitors have been making a beeline from different parts of Cachar and beyond to have a glimpse of the well designed pandal and the beautifully decorated idol of Maa Durga along with her offspring. While iugurating the pandal, Swami Baikunthandaji Maharaj, secretary, Rama Krish Mission, Silchar, in his brief but inspiring address before the gathering of devotees said, “Goddess Durga is the embodiment of power, grace and divine incartion. It is the responsibility of men to show respect and honour to women folk. Herein lies the worship of Maa Durga.”
 Subhash Dutta Choudhury, president of the Puja Committee, speaking about the uniqueness of the pandal said it is based on the prototype of the well known Sikkim Sai Baba temple. The entire structure is made of brass. During the last 4 years, pointed out Shankar Roy, secretary of the Puja Committee, there has been large turnout of pandal hoppers and visitors which continued till late night on all the festive days. On the demand of the devotees, the pandal along with all decorations and the idols have to be kept for long 7 days more.
 The models on the last 4 occasions drew not only crowd but also applaud from them because of the uniqueness of artistry, pointed out Shankar Roy. The models were made of conch shells, rudraksha, pearls and crystals. The Udharbond Kalibari Road puja has earned laurels on another count. The committee has always laid accent on maintaining decorum and order not only with the active involvement of its volunteers but also the police from the local police station. The way crowd of visitors and devotees has started flocking to “Our puja mandap, we expect this time will also be a major and maximum crowd puller to break all previous records.”
