Udit surprises all, clinches double crown

GUWAHATI, Aug 25: Fighting against high temperature during the last 48 hours, a night at the hospital with close observation and two bottles of saline, Udit Gogoi came direct from the hospital bed to play the Singles Fils of the AITA - tiol Series Tennis Championship that concluded today at the Jorhat Tennis Club.

In the first set, against Maav V Jain of Kartaka, Udit was playing more against his temperature than his opponent to loose 6-7 (2). With the sweat coming out, supported by the cold towel compression and continuously re-hydrating himself  with fresh lime water, the adreline in Udit gradually built up to play the match to win the next two sets 6-0, 6-0 and the title. 

With this singles win, Udit completed the double crown having won the Boys Doubles title yesterday. Jorhat Tennis Club gave Udit Gogoi an award of Rs.25000 for his achievement. At the closing function the prizes were distributed by Raktim Saikia, the president of the All Assam Tennis Association.
