SHILLONG, Nov 11: NPP leader H S Shylla, who will contest Assembly polls from Nongkrem constituency on Saturday, said that the United Democratic Party has become a small party as its presence is only in Khasi hills.
“The UDP has no presence in Jaintia hills and in Garo hills the party has no presence at all. The UDP state president Dr. Donkupar Roy had said that the HSPDP and UDP will get around 32 seats in the upcoming polls but he has mistaken and its only his imagition,” Shylla said at a function at Sohryngkham.
According to him, in the upcoming elections the HSPDP will be finished in the State.
Speaking on the newly floated People Democratic Party, he said, “In Mawlai more than 5000 supporters have joined the party in recent week but now many of them are leaving the party and many of the MDCs are also on the verge of removing themselves from the party because they have found there is no interl democracy in the party.” He said the political wind in Khasi-Jaintia hills is blowing in favor of NPP as around 9 MLAs will soon join the party.
