UDP in aggressive mode

SHILLONG, Feb 12: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has decided to adopt an aggressive strategy for the upcoming Bye poll election for seven seats of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).

UDP leader Jemino Mawthoh admitted that party was not aggressive all this while and now the party has actively stated its campaign for the elections. “We are now in the process of activating our party functiories and mobilizing grass root support,” he said.

Stating that the party is trying to connect with the people, he asserted that UDP will contest all the seven seats which are vacant following the resigtion of seven MDCs.

According to Mawthoh, the party is capitalizing on the unforeseen events which the state has seen like the issue of Village Administration Bill and poor governce.

Reacting to a query, he said that the party is getting a positive response from the people.

The elections to seven seats of KHADC has been necessitated following the passing of dual post bill following which 7 members of KHADC who were holding dual post of MLA resigned.
