UDP leaves 3 Garo Hills seats for GNC

SHILLONG, Sept 10: United Democratic Party (UDP) president Dr Donkupar Roy said his party will not contest in three Legislative Assembly seats of South Garo Hills district as per a request by its pre-poll alliance partner Garo tiol Council (GNC).

The three Assembly constituencies include 58 Rongra Siju, 59 Chokpot and 60 Bahmara. The UDP will support the GNC in three other Assembly seats. The GNC will contest in four out of the 24 constituencies in Garo Hills. The UDP has already declared mes of is and will declare mes of 10 more shortly.

The coordition committee of the UDP and GNC in Garo Hills will soon meet to chalk out the seat adjustments in the remaining constituencies for which either the GNC or the UDP has declared their candidates.
