FROM A CORRESPONDENT

SHILLONG, Feb 17: The meeting of the United Democratic Party (UDP) to decide on whether to continue its support to the People’s Democratic Forum (PDF) today remained inconclusive with the party reportedly uble to take any decision on the issue.

Till filing of this report the meeting was on with the UDP reportedly uble to decide on whether to continue its support or withdraw it since there is a faction which wants to continue support to the PDF.

It may be mentioned that on Thursday, Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Chief Executive Member (CEM), Pynshngain N Syiem replied to the points raised by the UDP.

Reportedly, eight of the points raised by the UDP, were discussed at the meeting of the PDF held on Thursday. All the alliance partners including the UDP were present.

However, the query raised by the UDP on the transfer of KHADC funds amounting to Rs 2 crore to private bank account was not discussed at the PDF meeting.

What has irked the UDP is that Syiem replied to the queries of the party through a letter sent to the party’s parliamentary party leader Teinwell Dkhar and the MDCs were asked to informed the same to the party.

The meeting was attended by MLAs Paul Lyngdoh, Dr. Jemino Mawthoh, Metbah Lyngdoh, Embhah Syiemlieh, HB Nongsiej and Senior Working President Bindo M Lanong and MDCs.

There are six UDP, MDCs in the KHADC and two are Executive Members in the Executive Committee headed by suspended Congress legislator, Syiem.
