SHILLONG, July 1: The UDP, Mylliem unit today strongly condemned the recent statement made by Mylliem MLA Ronnie V Lyngdoh against the UDP unit. The UDP said that the statement of the MLA is politically motivated.

The Mylliem MLA had alleged that the UDP unit of Mylliem is misleading the people regarding the 18 acres of land at Upper Shillong belonging to the Animal Husbandry and Veteriry Department.

The UDP unit stated they want to clarify on the issue especially to the people of Mylliem constituency that this issue they raised is not in accordance to what Lyngdoh has claimed.

“This is a serious and meaningful issue that we have raised,” president of the UDP unit Hamletson Dohling told reporters on Wednesday.

According to Dohling, if they do not stand against this issue now, time will come when people of the area will face great loss and hardship.

“We strongly refute the allegation of the MLA. We are not doing politics,” Dohling said.

He also informed that the UDP unit has also submitted a letter and the RTI findings to the MLA of Mylliem so that he can go through it and get clarification from the government about this issue.

Dohling said that as an MLA, Lyngdoh should seek clarification from the government as to why was he was not informed and kept in the dark about the minutes of the 19th general meeting of the Rajya Sainik Board where a decision to give away the 18 acres land to the IAF was taken.

“This is not my saying but it’s according to the RTI findings which has clearly stated about the agreement” Dohling said.

Dohling further said that Lyngdoh should ask Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, how he gave the assurance in the meeting without the knowledge of the local MLA.
