UDP yet to declare Umroi candidate

Shillong, Nov 27: In a bid to clear the confusion surrounding Mangkara Pathaw and Firstforce Deki Ramsiej, both of whom are United Democratic Party’s (UDP) aspirants from Umroi constituency for the 2018 Assembly election, UDP Umroi circle on Monday clarified that the matter was decided by the party’s State level committee after a decision was taken at the party’s Umroi constituency Executive Committee of held on 21st November.

Addressing media here, UDP Umroi circle general secretary Bantei Rynghang said the decision to review the announcement made earlier by the UDP to give the ticket to Ramsiej for contesting from Umroi was done in the presence of both the UDP ticket aspirants Ramsiej and Pathaw during the UDP Umroi constituency Executive Committee meeting.

“The Executive Committee meeting also resolved that if one of the candidates gets the MLA ticket, the other one should get MDC ticket from the UDP,” he said adding that the party’s State level committee’s decision will be fil on the matter.

He further said that all allegations made against the Executive Committee are baseless and that people should not be confused and misled by these allegations.
