Ujjwalla Divas

Shillong, April 18:  Along with the rest of the country ‘Ujjwalla Divas’ will be observed in West Khasi Hills where the PSU oil marketing companies and distributors (OMCs) will organize a one-day awareness programme at the Community Hall Riangdo Market in Mawshynrut Civil Sub-Division while at Mairang the programme will be held at U Tirot Sing Memorial Hall Pyndengumiong on April 20, a press release stated. An Initiative of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, ‘Ujwalla Divas’ is a part of ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’ and pertains to holding of LPG Panchayat in to make India a smokeless country by encouraging Women folk to opt LPG cooking fuel instead of the old methods. This will help to empower women in the kitchen by improving their life style, creating a healthy environment, the release added.
