ULFA (I) cadre surrenders in Tinsukia district

TINSUKIA: Following the onslaught launched by the Myanmar Army against the militants of Northeast, the ULFA (I) rebels are in disarray and disillusioned. With one more surrender on Friday, the number of militants so far surrendering before security forces in Tinsukia district during the past one month has risen to 10. Monikanta Sonowal (21) alias Adarsha Asom of Bormaithong in Tinsukia district who fled a Myanmar camp surrendered before Margherita police on Friday.

In a press meet addressed by Ashif Ahmed ASP (HQ), Sonowal was produced before media persons. During interaction with media persons, Sonowal told that due to the intensified operation by the Myanmar Army, the rebels have been changing their camps often and whoever is getting an opportunity, is trying to flee Myanmar and surrender. Sonowal belonged to ordinary cadre and joined the outfit in 2016.
