IMPHAL March 23: Armed militants hae kidpped two work supervisors of the road construction works along Imphal Tamenglong road. The project is being undertaken by the North Eastern Council. The two supeervisors were identified as Dha and Bidhu. It is learnt that shortly after kidpping them from the shacks of the workers the sub contractor of the works identified as Joy got a telephone call from the kidppers from the mobile handset of one of the supervisors. He was asked to cough off Rs 1 crore as ransom if he wants to see them alive. He should collect the money from all the contractors engaged in the construction works along this portion of the road. Kidpping of drivers and workers to extort ransom has been a thriving business and the government has miserably failed to make its presence felt in these areas where police and security forces are conspicuous by their absence and iction.
