Undertrial prisoner allegedly rapes constables’ wife

HOWRAGHAT, April 29: The alleged rape of a housewife within the Diphu Jail campus has created sensation. According to police sources, under trial prisoner Firoz Rajput raped the wife of a police constable posted in Diphu Jail, on Thursday evening. The incident was immediately brought to the notice of Jailer Anil Raja who allegedly did not take any action. After waiting for four days, the couple filed a case in Diphu police station on Saturday. Senior police officers, including the Additional Superintendent of Police Karbi Anglong, have swung into action.  Till filing of the report, investigation was on and the accused was confined inside his cell.
