Unemployed Dhemaji youths allege ‘deception’ by IIE Guwahati

DHEMAJI, Feb 3: More than 600 Dhemaji students who completed the entrepreneurship training given by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati have been deprived of appearing in the examition and also deprived of getting the scholarship during the training period.

In the me of skill development programme, the unemployed educated youths of Dhemaji were allegedly deceived by IIE Guwahati. The tiol Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM), Dhemaji initiated the entrepreneurship training programme in association with the Guwahati IIE and Dhemaji Town Committee in the month of January in 2016. The unemployed youths were given training in motor driving, computer education, doll making, fashion designing, beautician and nursing. The students successfully completed the training in due time but the organizing departments could not hold the examition nor were the students given any scholarship during their training period. The trainees were supposed to get Rs 3,000 each but they did not get the amount till date. They approached the NULM and Dhemaji Town Committee but they did not get satisfactory answers from them. A source said that an amount of Rs 20 lakh allotted for the trainees has not yet been release. The attempt to allegedly cheat the unemployed youths of Dhemaji has been widely resented. The people of Dhemaji have appealed to the IIE and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship into the matter.
