Unidentified Miscreants attack CSWO President Agnes Kharshiing in Meghalaya

Shillong: In a shocking incident, Civil Society Women's Organization (CSWO) Agnes Kharshiing was reportedly attacked by unidentified miscreants in East Jaintia Hills today.

As per eyewitnesses, she was apparently attacked in the Kong Ong area.

The attack on the CSWO President has been confirmed by the Meghalaya Police.

Few of the local people also stated that she received severe head injuries and was rushed to a nearby PHC in critical condition. She was taken to Lalong Public Health Centre in an ambulance.

The supporters of the CSWO president, Agnes Kharshiing are also suspecting that the attack on their leader was carried out by the coal mafias in the region.

It may be mentioned that Agnes Kharshiing has been constantly fighting and raising her voice against the illegal coal syndicate raj and coal mining in the region for the last couple of years.

The Sentinel Digital had also tried to contact her personally, but couldn’t get through.

Update: CSWO President, Agnes Kharshiing has been shifted to North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences in Shillong. Meanwhile, Doctors have confirmed that the leader is recovering well and has been shifted to ICU for better treatment.
