GUWAHATI: Hailing the decisions taken by the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP Assam Pradesh has said that the Cabinet decisions will help all sections of people of the country.

Addressing the media at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati on Sunday, State BJP spokesperson Rupam Goswami said: “In his first term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi could take all with this Sabka saath, sabka vikash policy. In his term 2 also, Prime Minister will let everyone in the country make stride with the Sabka saath, sabka vikash policy, besides making India one of the most successful nations in the world. The very first Cabinet decisions have reflected his ideology of developing all.”

Goswami said that the Prime Minister has taken steps for safety and security of those who protect the nation by taking the Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme under the National Defence Fund. The rate of scholarship under this scheme, according to Goswami, has been increased from Rs 2,000 per month to Rs 2,500 per month for boys and from Rs 2,250 per month to Rs 3,000 per month for girls. According to Goswami, this scheme has also been extended to the wards of State police officials who were martyred in terror or Naxal attacks, at the rate of Rs 500 a year.

Goswami further said that the Modi government has decided to cover all farmers, irrespective of their land holdings, under PM Kisan scheme that promises to transfer Rs 6,000 in their bank accounts. The revised scheme envisages to cover 2 crore more farmers with an estimated expenditure of Rs 87,217.50 crore in 2019-20.

“Nearly 14.5 crore farmers will now benefit from this scheme,” Goswami said, and added: “The Union Cabinet also approved a proposal to provide pension cover to crores of farmers. The Centre would spend Rs 10,774.5 crore for a period of three years on this.”

Goswami further said that the Modi Cabinet has approved a new scheme, which assures minimum monthly pension of Rs 3,000 to all shopkeepers, retail traders and self-employed persons after attaining the age of 60 years, fulfilling its poll promise. The decision will benefit 3 crore retail traders and shopkeepers, he said.

According to Goswami, the Union Cabinet approved an ambitious scheme with a total outlay of Rs 13,343 crore to fully control diseases amongst the livestock in the country in the next five years, by subsequently eradicating them.

The disease of food and mouth disease (FMD) and brucellosis are common among the livestock — cow, bulls, buffaloes, sheep, goats and pigs.
