Union Ministers visit Indian Oil installations in Digboi

DIGBOI, April 16:  Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of State for Petroleum and tural Gas, and Sarbanda Sonowal, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, visited Indian Oil (AOD) installations in Digboi recently.

Sanjiv Singh, Director Refineries/DIC (AOD) felicitated the Ministers at the helipad in presence of MPs Kamakhya Prasad Tassa and Rameshwar Teli, MLA Prasanta Phukan, MLA Dilip Moran, senior officials of Ministry of Petroleum and tural Gas, Assam State Government, senior magement of Oil India Limited, Amitava Misra GM I/C, Praveen Choudhary, GM (F), Rajeev Kalita, GM (HR), HS Dutta, GM (T) and representatives of various social organizations.

A presentation was given to the dignitaries covering various important issues by the AOD magement. This was followed by a visit to Well No 1 and Digboi Centery Museum. The dignitaries were received at Well No 1 by HL Arya, GM (TS&HSE) and LN Phukan, GM (P&U) and the Oil India team. The dignitaries were briefed by Sabee Chowdhary, Mager (CC&H) about the accidental discovery of oil in the jungles of upper Assam in 1800s. The Ministers took keen interest in the growth of Digboi Oilfield, Digboi Refinery, marketing of products and the subsequent transition from old to new technology. A tour of IOCL (AOD) Hospital and Assam Oil College of Nursing was also on the agenda.

Dharmendra Pradhan was happy about the service rendered by the medical institution. At the Assam Oil College of Nursing, Pradhan was satisfied to see Indian Oil’s meaningful contribution to society. He also interacted with the students.  A complete tour of Digboi Refinery was also given to the dignitaries prior to departing for Lepetkata from Digboi.
