Untoward incidents reported during polling in Thowra constituency

DEMOW: On Wednesday, the first phase of Panchayat poll was held in Thowra constituency. In Thowra constituency there are 20 gaon Panchayats and four zila parishads and out of 1,01,459 voters, 82,182 voters cast their valuable votes on Wednesday. In 70 No. Puthibhar Primary School voting centre, somebody cast the vote in the name of voter Shyamali Garh due to which a chaotic situation took place in that area.

Later, the presiding officer of that centre gave Shyamali Garh a chance to cast her valuable vote. In 131 No. Deroihabi Primary School voting centre, voters alleged that there was no ink in the stamps and names of some voters were missing from the voters’ list. All this led to chaotic situation and police had to come in to control situation. Kushal Dowari, MLA of Thowra constituency, cast his valuable vote in Maakhuwabari Primary School voting centre on Wednesday morning and Sushanta Borgohain, former MLA of Thowra Constituency, had also cast his vote in Sukanpukhuri Gaon Panchayat 70 No Pithubar Primary School vote centre. Till the filling of this report, in 1 No. Demow Anchalik Panchayat 81 per cent voter turnout was recorded though but since voters were still standing in queues to cast their votes till the filing of this report, the voter turnout may increase.
