HAMREN, April 22: The Karbi Anglong police achieved major success by apprehending hardcore UPLA (United People’s Army) leader Longku alias Daniel Terang. On the basis of secret information that Longku alias Daniel Terang was taking shelter in Khatkhati-Dimapur border, an operation was launched on Friday by Karbi Anglong Police team led by SI Mwblik Brahma and ably assisted by SI Horen Hazarika, ASI Abul Faruque and ASI Diganta Kumar Nath and a group of Assam Police Rangers.

After intense tracking, the team managed to get hold of Longku alias Daniel Terang (20) and his aide Shankar Mandal (21). The team also recovered one .32 pistol, one magazine of.32 round from their possession. Shankar was providing shelter to Longku in Dimapur. On the night of February 11, Longku had gone to the residence of Dillai-based contractor Borsing Timung and demanded Rs.10 lakh and also blank fired  two rounds with the same pistol recovered by the team to terrorize Boring and his family. In this connection, Dillai PS case no.05/2018 U/S 447/387/506/34 IPC was registered.
