Use of drugs among youngsters, drug trade a global problem

NAGAON: A sensitization programme against the use as well as the trade of illegal drugs among youngsters was held on Saturday at Najirajan in Nagaon town. Attending the event as chief guest, the Superintendent of Police of Nagaon, Sankarbrata Raimedhi called the issue a global problem and said that the use of such drugs usually ruined not only the lives of those who used them, but also their families.

He reiterated that Nagaon Police had taken stern initiatives against the use and abuse of drugs as well as it is an illegal trade in the district. He said that Nagaon Police had formed a Special Operation Team to put a tab on illegal trade and use of drugs in the entire district.

In the programme, renowned educationists like Dr Chintamoni Sarma, Abdul Motin Laskar, journalists Sofikur Rahman and Ajoy Kumar Mahato also exchanged their views and opinions on the topic and appealed to the authority concerned to take steps against use and trade of drugs in the district.
