Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar to Mridusmita, Anwesa

Guwahati, Oct 27: Young exponents of Satriya dance form Mridusmita Das and Anwesa Mahanta have been selected for the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2013 & 14 instituted by Sangeet tak Akademi.

Several other budding artistes from the country have also been selected for the Award announced by the Akademi here today. In the field of music, sixteen recipients of Yuva Puraskar are: Arshad Ali Khan, Dhanjaya Hegde and  Prashant & Nishant Mallick (joint Award) in Hindustani Vocal Music; Ojas Adhiya and Himanshu Mahant in Hindustani Instrumental Music – Tabla; Saha Banerjee in Hindustani Instrumental Music – Sitar; Sabir Khan in Hindustani Instrumental Music – Sarangi; Amritha Murali, S. Saketharaman and Pattabhi Rama Pandit T S in Cartic Vocal Music; gai R. Sriram in Cartic Instrumental Music – Violin; Sairam Sundaram and Parupalli S.N.S.V Subbaraya Phalgun in Cartic Instrumental Music – Mridangam; A Vijay Karthikeyan in Cartic Instrumental Music – gaswaram; Giridhar Udupa in Cartic in Instrumental Music – Ghatam; Yumm Bhumeshwor Singh in Other Major Traditions of Music – ta Sankirta, Manipur.

In the field of dance, sixteen recipients of Yuva Puraskar are; Lavanya Shankar and Lakshmi Parthasarathy Athreya in Bharatatyam; Souvik Chakraborty and Sandeep Mahavir in Kathak; Kalamandalam Arun Warrier in Kathakali; Prateeksha Kashi and M. Jaikishore Mosalikanti in Kuchipudi; Rajashri Prahraj in Odissi; Saji Menon in Mohiniattam; Satish Kumar Modak and Lokath Das in Chhau Vikram Iyengar in Contemporary Dance; Sangeeth Chakyar in Other Major Traditions of Dance and Dance Theatre (Kutiyattam); Ramamohan N N in Music for Dance. In the field of theatre, sixteen recipients are Purva resh in Playwriting; Jehan Maneckshaw ,Ashwath Bhatt, Randhir Kumar, Aloka Agnibesh, Dakshayani Bhat A, Abhishek Bharti in Direction; Akhila Ramrayan, Anubha Fatehpuria, Molisa Chatterjee, Harsh Daund    in Acting; Shaili Sathyu in Allied Theatre Arts – Lighting; Arun Kumar Malik in Allied Theatre Arts – Make up; Vijay Madhavan in Other Major Traditions of Theatre (Bhagavatmela); Chakresh Kumar in Allied Theatre Arts – Stagecraft; Anta Hegde in Major Traditions of Theatre (Yakshaga). In the field of Traditiol/Folk/Tribal Music/Dance/Theatre & Puppetry, sixteen recipients are; Delong Padung in Folk Music, Aruchal Pradesh; M. Kali in Traditiol/Folk Dance, Tamil du; Rashid Jehangir in Folk Music, Jammu & Kashmir; Warsi Brothers(Asad Khan Warsi & Amjad Khan Warsi) (joint Award) in Qawwali, Andhra Pradesh; Glory Bawa in Folk Music, Punjab; Saleem Shahzada in Folk Music, Punjab; Khete Khan Mangniyar in Traditiol/Folk Music, Rajasthan; Laxmipriya Dash in Folk Music, Odisha; Rabiratan Sahoo in Folk Music, Odisha; Dasru Ram Korram in Folk Music, Chhattisgarh; Supongsangla Jamir in Choral Music, galand; Srith g in Instrument Making, Chhattisgarh; Kehar Singh in Folk Theatre, Himachal Pradesh; Pranjal Gogoi in Mime; Mohammad Shameem and Shreepar Bhanja Gupta in Puppetry. The Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar introduced in 2006, is given to artistes below the age of 40 years. The award carries a cash of Rs 25,000.
