GUWAHATI, Feb 24: In a bid to expedite the utilization of Central funds, Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal issued stern directions to all government departments to complete proper utilization of the same within March 31 this year.
While reviewing the utilization of funds relating to government schemes in a meeting held on Friday in the CM’s conference hall at Jata Bhawan, the Chief Minister further asked the departments to take appropriate measures to utilize funds by following rules and procedures.
As against the release of Central fund of Rs 12,584.80 crore by the previous State government from April 1, 2015 to February 23, 2016, the present State government has released Rs 17,690.81 crore up to February 23 last.
Sonowal said the Central government is very much eager to release more funds for expediting development in the State. The Chief Minister also reviewed the implementation of PMGSY in the State under which eight thousand kilometres of roads to be constructed connecting 5,766 villages and directed the PWD to ensure completion of the work within fixed timeframe.
