Valentine Strawberry Festival at Umiam Lake

SHILLONG, Feb 4: Young Minds Association (YMA), a youth organization form Ri-Bhoi will organize a Valentine Strawberry Festival on the eve of Valentine Day on February 13, at Umiam Lake Water Sport Complex from 10.30 am. “We are organizing this festival with an aim to help and promote the strawberry farmers from Ri-Bhoi district and the reason we had chosen this fruit for the festival is because it resembles the shape of a heart and it fits the spirit of Valentine day,” Richard Lyngdoh, president of YMA told newsmen here on Thursday. He informed that there will be live music performance from local bands and bands from outside the state. DJ Imran Mirza from Mumbai will also perform. 20 stalls which include indigenous food and floriculture stalls will be set up in the festival ground, he said.
