Vehicles seized

JOYSAGAR, April 13: Following tough instructions from Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner PG Jha, the Sivasagar Forest Department now seems to be taking action against smugglers of natural resources. Sivasagar Divisional Forest Department personnel seized as many as nine vehicles used in carrying smuggled resources within four days. Two dumpers, four 407 trucks, one JCB and two mini pick-up vans were seized during operation.

Meanwhile, Joysagar Police also seized three vehicles used in carrying illegally acquired soil from historic Rupahi Pathar under Joysagar Police Station area. One Paresh Das of Joysagar area used to dig in Rupahi Pathar illegally and had been running the soil business for a long period. But Joysagar Police finally busted Das’ illegal business and seized two dumpers and one 407 truck on Thursday. These vehicles were used in carrying soil illegally from Rupahi Pathar.
