Veteran Congress worker Ajay Poddar passes away due to heart failure

DOOMDOOMA: Veteran Congress worker Ajay Poddar breathed his last at his Bezbaruah Sarani house in the wee hours on Thursday due to heart failure. His last rites were performed on Friday. He was 65 and is survived by his wife Rina Poddar, who is a teacher of Doomdooma Girls High school, and three daughters. An active member of Indian National Congress (INC) all throughout his life, he was a member of Ad hoc body of Doomdooma Town Committee (DDTC) during 1993-94 and was associated with social organizations like Doomdooma Namghar Samity among others. On hearing his death news, a half-day holiday was declared in the office of Doomdooma Town Committee on Thursday. His death has been widely mourned by MLA Durga Bhumij, DDTC chairman Dulu Arandhara and a number of organizations.
