Veteran sports journalist passes away

GUWAHATI, May 30: Veteran Sports Journalists Sanjiv Sarma Thakur passed away today after brief illness. He was 59 and was working for the city-based vernacular daily, Janasadharan. Sarma, who was involved with many social organizations, was also a good commentator who covered many sports events for Doordarshan and All India Radio. The Assam Sports Journalists Association, River Rine Club, Assam Sepak Takraw Association, All Assam Tennis Association, North East Tennis Foundation, Jorhat Tennis Club and the Veteran Cricket Association of Assam condoled the untimely demise of Sarma. He left behind his wife. Sarma’s last rite was performed today at the Nabagraha crematorium.
