MANGALDAI: Dr. Mithinga Daimary, a postgraduate in Veterinary Science of village Ambagaon near Harisinga in Udalguri district, has secured 77th position in the recently declared Assam Civil Service examination (ACS) conducted by Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

Dr Daimary, son of a marginal village farmer Niran Daimary and Renu Daimary, passed out of the College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara in Guwahati in 2016 securing 75 per cent and completed his MVSc from Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Bareily with 78 per cent marks in 2018. Then he enrolled for PhD in Antibiotic Resistance in the College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara and also qualified for Block Veterinary Officer by the APSC this year.

Dr Daimary completed his schooling from Diamond English School at Harisinga with first division in the HSLC examination in 2008 and completed his HSSLC examination from Udalguri College. After seeing the felicitation function of an Assamese youth who had qualified for IAS in 2007, Dr. Daimary, while in Class X, was highly inspired to appear in the civil service examination. The academic environment in IVRI and some of his seniors qualifying for IAS and IPS also strengthened his dream. He appeared in APSC examination without any coaching and successfully qualified for ACS in his first attempt.

The financial support from his close relatives was of immense support and strength to help him continue his studies. “I aim to appear in the UPSC exam and I have been preparing for it,” said Dr Daimary with a smile while talking to The Sentinel.
