Vigil Intensified in Republic Day Run-Up

GUWAHAT: With only five days to go for the Republic Day celebrations, Guwahati is under strict vigil. Following an instruction from Guwahati Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar, search and vigil in the city have been intensified.

The city has been dotted with a number of hamlets atop its hills. Police teams from different police stations of the metropolitan city had to trek hills conducting search operations so as to ensure if miscreants take shelter there or not. Hills that were thoroughly searched on Sunday by the personnel of different police stations include the Khanapara hill. Night vigil has also been intensified in the city in the run-up to the Republic Day. Searches are also seen during the day.
