Thiruvanthapuram, Feb 15: A minister in the former Chief Minister V.S. Achuthandan’s cabinet on Wednesday said the present Pirayi Vijayan-led Left government is a dismal failure and the Chief MInister “is behaving like Prime Minister rendra Modi”. Addressing reporters here on Wednesday, Lok Sabha member from Kollam N.K. Premachandran, who was the Water Resources Minister in the Achuthandan cabinet for five years, said that government was far better than the present nine-month-old Pirayi Vijayan-led Left administration. The Vijayan government so far has been a dismal failure, he added.
“Achuthandan gave his ministers absolute freedom, while Vijayan is behaving like Prime Minister rendra Modi, as if he is the supreme leader. There is no collective responsibility in the cabinet. Like Modi, Vijayan also does not take any of his ministers into confidence and dabbles in every department,” said Premachandran.
Premachandran belongs to the Revolutiory Socialist Party, an ally of the Left Democratic Front, but he crossed over to the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Contesting from the Kollam Lok Sabha constitguency, he trounced CPI-M politburo member and then sitting legislator M.A. Baby.
“Governce in Kerala under Vijayan has come to a standstill as he is interfering in every department. There is a disconnect between the bureaucracy and the police top brass,” the former minister said. (IANS)
