Villagers gherao electricity office

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), Feb 14: Villagers gheraoed the Golaghat Electricity Division on Tuesday to demand electricity connection in their villages. More than 200 villagers of Balijan and Chaporijuria in Golaghat district shouted various slogans against the electricity department. The villagers alleged that one of the contractors had taken bribe of ducks and Joha rice from the villagers and assured providing electricity connection in the villages. They alleged that some dishonest officials of the office had a nexus with the contractor. On several occasions these officials assures to provide electricity connection in the villages but did not do so till date. The villagers demanded electricity connection in the villages as soon as possible.
