Villagers repair deplorable roads in Bajali

From a Correspondent

PATHSALA, Feb 25: Frustrated with the poor and pathetic condition of roads, local people of Dubi (Muslim Cupa) village in Bajali subdivision of Barpeta district of Patacharkuchi constituency came out with spades and other instruments to repair the roads on Saturday.

According to the residents of the area, the road had not been repaired since a long time.  This had caused a lot of inconvenience for them. Filly left with no option, the people of the flood-prone area come out to repair the road themselves, spending their hard-earned money. Every year, the villagers had collected money from every household and bought sand and instruments for the repair work. More than 200 villagers came out to repair the deplorable road.

Villagers alleged that lack of necessary repair work and the indifferent attitude of the authorities concerned had turned the road into a death trap with several big potholes on it. They also urged the government and Pabindra Deka, MLA of Patacharkuchi constituency, to take necessary steps in the greater interest of the villagers.
