ITAGAR, Nov 6: Union MoS for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has expressed concern over the lack of teachers and medical facilities in many schools and villages in remote areas of Aruchal Pradesh.

One such instance came to light when Rijiju met some youths in remote Tada Dege village in West Siang district on Tuesday. When the minister enquired about their studies, the boys and girls said there is no teacher to teach them and the school is closed.

The villagers complained that no minister from the state government has ever visited the village. They said the ITBP is their only source for medical needs and other assistance, an official communiqué informed here today.  West Siang DC Pige Ligu, who accompanied Rijiju, immediately asked the EAC to prepare reports on the entire area, and promised to send teachers there soon.  Later, speaking to a gathering at circle headquarters Monigong, the minister said the Centre would pay attention to the long neglected border areas and create infrastructures in such places. He also urged the state government to make judicious provisions from the state fund for the welfare of these neglected people.  Responding to a memorandum submitted by the local panchayat, listing out various grievances and demands, Rijiju promised to take care of those demands “and take up local matters which are in the local government’s domain with the state government”.  The minister also visited Yigi Kaum, the model college in Basar, and Esi Chiku, Sago, Piri and Lipu mchi villages, the communiqué added.
