Virat Kohli asks fan to stop booing and rather clap for Steve Smith

London: Reflecting a sign of true sportsperson, Virat Kohli in his last match against Australia during the ongoing ICC World Cup Cricket 2019, has once again proved that the Indian player believes in healthy competition.

This is well known to all that Virat Kohli and Steve Smith had some bitter experiences in the past and in keeping with this, some of the Kohli fans watching the match on Sunday targeted Smith. A section of the Indian fans, during the match, took to boo at the Australian cricketer which did not go well with Kohli. Disappointed at this behaviour of the Indian fans, Kohli, amidst his batting, took to signal at his fans asking them to give applauds for the Australian cricketer and not insult or taunt him.

The incident happened when Smith was sent to the boundary line for fielding, some of the Indian fans started booing at him while also chanting "cheater, cheater". This caught the attention of Kohli who was batting at that moment who disappointed at this behaviour, turned towards the audiences and gestured at them to cheer for Smith and not boo at him.

Virat Kohli and Steve Smith have been involved in some bitter banter in the past, but the Indian skipper showed his true sportsman spirit through this gesture.

Kohli later described the incident to the media and said, "What happened, happened long back. He's back, trying to play well for his side. It is not good to see someone down like that...You don't want to see a guy feeling heat every time he goes out to play." He further added, "I just felt for him and I told him sorry on behalf of the crowd because I have seen that happen in a few earlier games as well. In my opinion, that's not acceptable."

The last match between India and Australia was worth a watch with India smashing its opposition with a huge target of 352 runs. The kangaroos, chasing this target, could only score 318 runs in their turn. With this victory over Australia, India has proved it once again that they well-deserve to be in the World-Cup run with brighter possibilities of bringing the cup back to the Indian soil. India will next be facing New Zealand on June 13 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
