Virat Kohli surpasses world’s top athletes as the highest earner; soon to replace Dhoni!

Guwahati: Virat Kohli, the fastest growing performer in the Indian National cricket team is all set to break another record now! The Indian team skipper, after replacing Dhoni from the captainship of the national team, will now replace him to become the highest earning sportsman in India. A position, so long held by Mahendra Singh Dhoni is on the verge of being captured by Kohli.

After breaking one after another record on the field, off the field as well, Virat is performing pretty enviably with brand endorsements for several national and international brands. Right from luxury cars, motorbikes, traditional dressings, watches, sports shoes to ride services, tires, snacks, health foods, snacks and headphones, Kohli has made a mark and thus, the earnings made from marketing and brand promotion in itself is pretty enough to make the Indian cricketer a multi-millionaire.

The 30-year-old cricketer with tattooed arms and coiffured hair is the brand endorser of some 21 brands which includes a range of top-notch brands like Tissot, Audi, Puma, Uber, Manyavar and Hero. With such a huge earning from brand endorsements, Kohli also attains a place into Forbes’s 2018 list of the world’s 100 highest-paid athletes.

With a net income of $24 million over the previous 12 months, Kohli right now is the highest earning cricketer in the world. With such an amazing performance, Kohli even surpasses high-profile athletes like Novak Djokovic and Sergio Aguero as well.

However, surpassing the top-notched athletes of the world and making a place in the Forbes’ list does not also mean that he would be able to challenge the Forbes’ No.1 Floyd Mayweather or No. 2 Lionel Messi. But still, the feat this Indian cricketer has achieved in such a short span of time is commendable and unmatchable for most of the current and the forthcoming sportspersons.

It is at this point; Kohli must learn to maintain the ethics of being a true sportsperson and avoid any sort of conflicting or contradictory statement which can ruin his stature in an overnight. Such an instance of a contradictory statement made by the cricketer came into light when Kohli mistreated one of his fans through a Twitter post. In his Twitter post, Kohli asked one his fans, “You should go and live somewhere else, you know.”

Kohli further tweeted, “Why are you living in our country and loving other countries? I don’t mind you not liking me but I don’t think you should live in our country...”

It is high time that Kohli must learn to retain his name and fame and build a strong bond with his fans and admirers as, without fans and followers, a celebrity is nothing.
