Volleyball match bolsters Indo-Bangla ties

Silchar, April 21: A friendly volleyball match between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) was organised by Sector Headquarter, Border Security Force, Silchar, yesterday evening at Sutarkandi.

Satish Budakoti, Deputy Inspector General, Headquarter, BSF, Mizoram and Cachar Frontier and BSF spokesperson said that the event has been organised as a part of confidence building measures between the two neighboring border guarding forces. At present, the two border guarding forces are having very good, friendly and cordial relations, he added.  

  Budakoti said that this year, Border Security Force would be completing 50 years of its service to the tion, and to make a mark in its glorious history, BSF is celebrating the golden jubilee throughout the year. As part of the celebration, the DIG BSF Silchar invited the two counterpart BGB sectors of Sreemongal and Sylhet to join the celebrations by organising a friendly volleyball match under guidance of Headquarter BSF Mizoram and Cachar Frontier. The event is intended to build confidence among the two border guarding forces to come more close to each other and create better understanding so that many issues relating to border which may crop up can be solved in minimum possible time.

Border Guard Bangladesh delegations led by sector commander Sreemongal were welcomed and received by the O P Tripathi, DIG, Sector Headquarter, BSF, Silchar on the intertiol border.

 The volleyball Match was graced by the delegates of Bangladesh which include Col. Tariqul Islam Khan, PSC, sector commander Sreemongal, Lt. Col Shah Alam Choudhary, commanding officer, 41 BGB, Lt. Col Sardar Riajb Ul Haque Raja, commanding officer, 52 BGB, Maj. Shaheed Mehar, staff officer, Sremongal Sector and Maj. Jaheed, staff officer, Sylhet Sector.
