Voters’ Party International stages dharna

LAKHIMPUR, June 19: The Lakhimpur district unit of the Voters’ Party International staged dharna on Tuesday at Tyag Kshetra against the elimination of the private security of the party’s leader Bharat Gandhi, non-passing of resolution in support of Votership Act from the State Assembly, rise in prices of essential commodities and demanding ban on bandhs called by agitating organizations.

The activists of the party, led by district president Fazlur Rahman, shouted various slogans in support of their demands and against the Union and State governments for their alleged anti-people and anti-voter policies. At the end of the programme, the party submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Lakhimpur DC in support of their demands. The party demanded the Chief Minister to pass the resolution in support of the Votership Act as soon as possible for the greater interest of the voters.
