Waii asks participants to shed ego for success

Itagar, July 4: The mega audition for the fifth edition of Nyishi Idol, a reality show was successfully conducted at Shidhartha hall here on Sunday in presence of RWD Minister Kumar Waii who is also the chief patron of the Nyishi Art & Culture Welfare Society (CWS), the organizer of the event.

Appreciating the organizer for the initiative in bringing hidden singing Nyishi talents of various districts to provide a platform, Waii advised the participants to maintain cordial relation among them throughout the show and not to hate each other as competitors.

Stating that singers do have ego problem after their successful performances, the minister urged the budding singers not to convert their talents into ego and asked them to live simple and try to unite the Nyishi brethren through songs and music.

He said singing profession has a large scope not only in the state but also in other states; Waii assured to help Nyishi youth irrespective of their chosen field and added that through music one could lessen anxiety and distress and bring happiness.

Itagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA) president Yumlam Achung in his address stated that Nyishi youth do have hidden talent in every field but never get opportunity to showcase their hidden talents. He also lauded the CWS for giving a platform to such talents to expose their mettle. Urging the participants to keep the art of singing as a profession, he also asked them to judiciously utilize the prize money in creative works instead of late night kitty parties.

During the district level audition, a total of 250 singers participated out of which 65 have been selected for the state level audition.

The main objective of the CWS to organize reality show is to provide a platform for Nyishi youths to showcase their talent and to let them learn the Nyishi language while taking part in the competition. Each singer has to mandatorily sing one Nyishi song out of two.
