pier, March 15: Notwithstanding defeats in all their cricket World Cup Pool B games, United Arab Emirates (UAE) captain Mohammad Tauqir on Sunday said the mega event was a good learning experience for his side.

"It was a good learning experience for us. Also it was very enjoyable," Tauqir said at the post-match presentation ceremony after tumbling to a six-wicket loss to the West Indies in their last Pool B outing here. The skipper said they had a lot of travelling to do. "There was a lot of travelling to do."

The 43-year-old said the side will go back home with some positives and look forward to the World T20 qualification in July. "There were some positives from this World Cup. We have the T20 World Cup qualification ahead of us in July. Overall it was a decent performance from us in this tourment," the skipper said as his boys finished with six consecutive losses. He felt the West Indies bowlers picked up early wickets which actually put them on the backfoot but praised his teammate Amjad Javed's consistency throughout the tourney. "When they put us in to bat, they took good advantage of the bowling conditions. But sir Aziz and Amjad Javed batted well in the end. Amjad has been very consistent for us throughout the tourment, both with the bat and ball," Tauqir added. IANS
