Weightlifter Surajit felicitated

Dibrugarh, June 7: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday felicitated the winner of bronze medal at Youth Asian Weightlifting Championship, 2018, held in Uzbekistan, Surajit Changmai.

Gracing the event that was organized under the aegis of Asami Sangha and in association with Dibrugarh Zila Shareer Charcha Sanstha, Sonowal considered the proposal of bettering the infrastructure and modernization of the Sanstha, and assured that he would look into the matter. In his speech, Sonowal asked the Deputy Commissioner, Laya Madduri and Superintendent of Police, Gautam Borah, both present on the occasion, to survey all the sports clubs of the district, and take appropriate steps towards solving the infrastructural problems associated with them. He, at the same time, added that the State Government, in the forthcoming days, would also work towards the betterment of the sports clubs based on the proposals of the DC. Lok Sabha MP from Jorhat constituency, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa also graced the event.
