SHILLONG, April 30: The Achik Youth Welfare Organization (AYWO) has demanded that the police should take up immediate step to arrest the dacoit who robbed Binoy Gosh three days ago at Gaptuli.

The dacoits attacked the car of BJP contestant from Phulbari Binoy Ghosh, another prominent resident of the town Uttam Das as well as Ghosh’s driver Shibu Das, who all managed to escape very narrowly. Money, jewelry as well as their mobile phones was snatched by a group of 6 armed criminals.

The AYWO condemned the act of dacoity, while requesting the setting up of an anti-dacoity camp in the same area to ensure that such acts are not repeated again in the future.

The NGO further sought close cooperation between the Phulbari and  Tikrikilla Police Station as well as the Nidanpur outpost to avoid further cases of robbery or dacoity in the area.

The area is also used as a frequent route for illegal timber smuggling as it is close to the border of Assam.

The NGOs condemned this incident and asked the police to arrest the culprits at the earliest to build confidence among the people in Phulbari.
