West Karbi Anglong district ceremonially iugurated

DIPHU, February 11: Khorsing Engti, Veteriry and HAD minister, Government of Assam, ceremonially iugurated the newly created West Karbi Anglong district in presence of a galaxy  of leaders, Karbi Customary king,  officers and a large gathering at Rongbong Ronghang play ground at Hamren in West Karbi Anglong district on Thursday.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi  had announced for creation of the  district on  August  15, 2015 and it was notified on January 25, 2016 and today it was ceremonially iugurated with Hamren as its headquarter. In this connection a public meeting was held and addressing the gathering as chief guest, Khorsing Engti said that at first Hamren was created as a police district to maintain law and order and now the entire Hamren subdivision had turned into a new district, christened as West Karbi Anglong.

Tuliram Ronghang , Chief Executive Member (CEM), Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), in his speech praised  the Chief Minister and Khorsing Engti for their role in creation of the new district. With the creation of the  new district a lot of problems would be solved, Ronghang said, and in same vein he also  appealed to people not to get swayed away by the false propaganda of the opposition party and to continue their faith in the Congress for more development in the district.

Dr Mansing Rongpi, MLA and parliamentary secretary , Government of Assam, stressed the need for decentralization of power and opined that after the creation of the new district the branch secretariat of KAAC at Hamren should function for smooth work of the new district and to lessen the burden of the people . He also emphasized the need of attendance of the officers and staff in their respective offices for more progress in the new district.

Mukul Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong , said that the West Karbi Anglong district was created with a total population of about 3,10,000 by taking 3055 sq km land and has become the 29th district in the State where new colleges, new higher secondary schools, new civil hospital would be opened and 72 departments would have their district-level office at Hamren, the district headquarter, for more progress.

Debo Kumar th took charge as the first Deputy Commissioner of West Karbi Anglong district.

The meeting was presided over by MU Ahmed, Commissioner, Central Assam division. On the occasion EMs of KAAC, and various Board chairmen were present.
