Wife, paramour convicted in husband's murder trial

AGARTALA, April 25: A lady and her paramour were convicted for life imprisonment for conspiring and killing her husband by giving him poison in Siphijala district of Tripura. Additiol district and session judge of Somura, Subhasish Sharma Roy delivered his verdict after prolonged hearing.
It may be recalled the on July 10, 2010, Sridam Debth, a resident of Bishramgunj in Sipahijala district who was suffering from partial paralysis was found dead on his bed. A bottle of poison beside him gave the initial impression that the man frustrated with his disease had committed suicide but police got suspicious when they found that his wife Manju Debth was absconding along with one Sanjoy Datta, an owner of a hotel where she was working.
However, after few months Manju herself contacted the Bishramguanj police station and requested to rescue her from Sanjoy Datta with whom she was staying in a rented house at Karimganj in Assam. She alleged that Sanjoy was forcing her to sleep with other man and was torturing her.
The Bishramgunj police immediately rushed to Karimganj and arrested the duo. Police soon started the murder trial to which they admitted guilty. It has been learnt that Manju had two daughters while her paramour Sanjoy married twice before eloping with her.
