Wild elephants destroy houses in west Karbi Anglong

Kheroni, Dec 24: Under Donkamukam Circle , a herd of wild elephants destroyed eight houses at Belbari of Hawaipur mauza in west Karbi Anglong district on Tuesday night. At around 10 pm on Tuesday night, a herd of 40-45 wild elephants enter the village of Belbari. They broke the entry door of the LP School of Belbari, took out sacks of rice and other commodities from the school premises. The elephants also destroyed several bighas of sugarcane cultivation. Around five houses were destroyed belonging to Pulchand Chauhan, Kamakhya Chauhan, Umesh Thakur and Sitaram Harizan.
